September Holidays with Paw Patrol!

Thursday, September 08, 2016

Paw Patrol is in City Square Mall this September holidays, so we brought Dylan down for it, since he is such a fan! I mean.. that's what we do these days. There are SO MANY characters he likes - Barney, Paw Patrol, Power Rangers, superheroes, Mickey Mouse... so we are forever chasing after these characters like how I used to chase after Jay Chou.

Whenever we visit City Square Mall, we always look forward to try dining at different restaurants! Previously when we went over in June, we dined at their newly opened Din Tai Feng. This time, we tried out Paddington House of Pancakes located at the second floor.

Paddington House of Pancakes

To sum up my overall experience at PHOP is... average. We ordered 4 items, the fries and wedges you see above, a NICE crepe (yes the name of the crepe is called Nice, named after a place in France hehe), some pancakes and mushroom omelette for the children and a chocolate fondue as dessert.

It was really just a very average experience, the food was average, the waiting time was okay.. nothing phenomenal about it. In fact, their service standard is on the "below standard" scale. Servers gave us a disinterested face, got distracted when passing us serviettes.. The only special mention would be the Malay lady who really made the difference!

She noticed that I was struggling to find a place to put my diaper bag down, and instead of turning a blind eye like the rest of her colleagues, she took the effort to pass me a chair so that we could all dump our bags on it.

When she realised that our table was too full of emptied plates, she cleared them up quickly too. All of her other colleagues don't seem to be as meticulous as her. For that, I am deeply impressed.

One thing that irks me a lot is that the eatery charges 40 cents for a glass of warm water. That's fine, many eateries do that too but to my horror, the glass was actually not refillable! I don't know what's with the stinginess. It is just waterrrrrrrr. Plus, we are already spending tens of dollars on the food, I really don't understand why they wouldn't provide free refills. Pfft.

I wouldn't have minded if it was just the adults dining out, but with the children in tow, they drink a lot of water and we usually top it up from the restaurant we dine in. Most of them are more than happy to provide us with complimentary refills after our initial purchase so I really don't get why PHOP doesn't.

Anyway, by the time we were done with our dinner, it was already 6.55PM so we were just in time for the show, but not early enough to secure a good seat with a good view.. so we ended up watching from the second floor. Thankfully, we met many nice mummies who gave Dylan a good seat!

Alexis had a special seat, of course. Enjoy it while it lasts, baby! You'd soon be too heavy for Daddy's old shoulders... LOL.
