Dr. Belter's Skincare Range

Tuesday, December 01, 2015

This is one of the many series of Hello, Mrs Tan's Christmas Gift Guide for 2015, where I will feature items that I think make really good Christmas presents! If you would like to be part of the feature, do get in touch with me at jaccyy[at]gmail.com. This series will last for a month and end by 20 December. :)

This year, I had the privilege of working with many great skincare brands and had the opportunity to explore so many skincare products that works! In the past, I had a lot of difficulties to look for something that suits me because I thought I knew what my skin needed.

In September this year, my skin went on a bout of rampage and I was down with really bad outbreaks all over my face.

For someone who hardly ever needed to battle with zits, this was a very scary period because I was so afraid that the pimples will never go away, or they would leave behind scars on my face!

That was also about the time when I first started my treatment with Annabelle Skin and so far, I am into my 4th session. Today, instead of talking about my treatment programmes, I'd like to talk about some of my favourite products from the skincare range that I am exclusively using now.

Dr. Belter is a German brand with 11 lines of skincare products under its name. For me, I am specifically using their "Sensi-bel" range that is used to target my Couperose and Rosacea. In layman terms, these two cosmetic problems are caused by dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin, causing it to look flushed, red or angry.

According to my therapist, these dilated blood vessels also cause the skin to be more sensitive to pain, irritation and sunlight. The reason why I constantly had to battle with freckles was because of these blood vessels - they are more sensitive to the heat when my skin is exposed to the sun rays, thereby triggering my body to produce melanin to protect my skin from burning. This oversensitivity sometimes causes the skin to produce too much melanin, so it results in freckles.

Make-Up Remover

Everyone knows that it is important for us to completely remove all of our make-up at the end of the day, but how many of us really ensure that our skin is really clean? These days, I have the luxury of being able to go around running my errands without any make up, since I no longer work in an office.

But of course, there are occasions where I have to put on full make-up like this!

Complete make up with primer, concealer, liquid foundation, loose powder, highlights, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, waterproof mascara, eyeliner, lip gloss, lip stain and blusher
To be honest, I tried removing my make-up with just my cleanser (*eh-hem, because I was quite tired after a long day/// *shifty-eyes*), but you know when it comes to waterproof cosmetics, they ain't gonna budge!

With my recent episode of pimple-migration, I was not ready to go to bed with residues of make-up on my face. I was really obsessed with making sure my face was super clean and grime-free so that it will not trigger anymore pimples.

Dr. Belter's Make-Up Remover Eyes & Lips Duo was a god-sent because it only took me a couple of minutes and 6 pieces of soaked cotton pads to completely remove all traces of make-up, including mascara, sparkly eyeshadow and my lip stains.

A single wipe also removed my loose powder + liquid foundation + concealer combination immediately. Most importantly, it is not oily at all. A lot of make-up remover I use are oil-based but can emulsify when in contact with water, but to be honest, the oily texture makes me feel very paranoid that it might clog up my pores anytime, so I am not really inclined to use it unless absolutely necessary.

Daily Cleanser

After which, I use the soap-free Delicate Cleanser. On usual days when I don't have any make-up on, I would skip the first step and head straight to cleanse my face with the cleanser. By then, I could feel that my face was "breathing" again. The Delicate Cleanser is also very gentle and I don't feel any taut feeling on my skin after wash.

I could apply toner as my third step, but I think laziness is in my blood afterall, so I usually skip it. :p

Instead, I would pat my face dry and apply the Couperosis Serum.

This bottle, ladies and gentlemen, is my FAVOURITE item amongst the entire range. I love its hydrating properties best, especially so when I use it on days when I sleep in the air-conditioned room! Usually my moisturisers work pretty well, but this one, when I woke up the next day, my skin still feels bouncy.

It is also very rich in terms of ingredients, so it helps me with my rosacea problem very well. When used over my pimples, it also calms the angry zits, making it less irritated. The only downside I can think of is that it is really pretty expensive at hundred over bucks per bottle of goodness so sometimes I really cannot bear to use it!

The Couperosis Serum works best with the Couperosis Compact Creme, which is my #2 favourite. I personally feel that if you are limited by budget and can only buy a couple of products, you should buy the Serum and Compact Creme (and then save up to buy the rest later lol).

The Compact Creme comes in a green tinge because green actually balances out the reddish-tinge of the pimples, neutralising the colour and making it less angry-looking. I realise that by applying on the pimple, it takes a much shorter time for the zit to 'dry up' and very often, I recover within 3 to 4 days.

I use this very, very sparingly, more like a target-spot application more than applying across my entire face, but you can also use it as a whitening cream by mixing with your moisturiser.

Yes! So this is my top 4 favourite items from my Dr. Belter series. If you would like to bless a friend the gift of beautiful skin this Christmas, then bring him/her down to Annabelle Skin.

They provide a complimentary skin analysis and from there, you and your friend can decide whether to get a package with them for skin treatments, or just purchase Dr. Belter's products. The friendly Annabelle staff would never hard-sell you (tell me if they do! I will go scold them for you lol) and would recommend you the range that is most suitable for you.

In fact, you can show them this blog post on your cellphone and they will give you a 50% off if it is your first time at Annabelle Skin. :)
