Daiso for every conceivable occasions

Wednesday, October 07, 2015

I have to admit, I am a Daiso fanatic. I always tell my husband, if there are only three places I can go in my life, Daiso will be #1. (Followed by Ikea and Cotton On lol)

Seriously, what's there not to love about Daiso? There is a crazy number of things you can buy and all of them at a mere $2! All you need to do is to do some "product research" and you will know which are the items that are worth your two-bucks.

Different people have different favourite items in this mega store and here are some of mine.

1. Bento making tools!

If you don't already know me, I am someone with a lot of interests but never really have time (or chances) to pursue them a lot, so being able to buy these items at a low price not only gives me the chance to play around with what I like, it also makes me feel less guilty when I have to leave them unattended for a while.

Here are some bentos I made with the tools from Daiso!

If you have the chance, do consider purchasing their kitchen knives as well. We bought one when we first moved into the apartment and for a mere $2, it has served me really well. Whenever the knife goes blunt, I would sharpen it with a knife sharpener, also available at Daiso.

2. Dessert Table Decorations

Yes! You can actually buy a lot of items to jazz up your upcoming party and many a times, I go to my trusty $2 shop to look for affordable but beautiful props for our dessert tables set ups.

The fake grass patch to make this barnyard theme dessert table was from Daiso! The wooden crates used to display the London Rolls can also be found there - I merely jazzed up the box a little with some washi tapes... also from Daiso!

This is another party that we used items from Daiso. They have got pretty ceramic bowls, plates and other tableware that is brilliant for dessert tables! Check out how we used the pretty petal plates to display M&Ms in this rainbow theme party.

3. House maintaining items

When you go to Daiso, you really cannot miss these home maintenance items! We have containers at $2 each to store Dylan and Alexis' toys, woven baskets to store their diapers and our assorted remote controls and another must-buy item has to be this Daiso green rack! It makes use of the additional headspace you have in your cupboards and tables and make everything less space-consuming and look neater.

There are also these transparent stackable containers that I use to store our watches and arm candies and hair ties.

4. Fast Consumables

Daiso is also great for fast consumables, such as baby wipes, loose leaves of papers, make-up remover wipes, cotton buds etc.

I also spend a lot of money on these felt cloth for crafts too! If you are planning on sewing a quiet book for your child, these felt pieces will be super useful in their ultra vibrant colours.

What are some of the must-buy items from Daiso that you always end up buying? Share them with me!

  2. Daiso makes me go ga-ga too!!! Although I'll stay away from baby wipes (if used on the kid) and make-up since we have very sensitive skin.

    1. Yes yes, some of the wipes are scented so may not be very suitable if you have sensitive skin. Luckily the baby wipes are fine for my little ones, but I found an even cheaper Korean baby wipes online so right now, Daiso ones are my back up hehehe

  4. to be honest, I never liked Daiso. It's so hard to find things, they spoil easily, $2 can be expensive for certain items which I can buy for less than the price elsewhere and some items they carry Do Not Work! Whoops! Stepping on the tails of every mama on this blog train now. Then, I started reading all your posts and Daiso suddenly seem so awesome! *haha* well, I'll give it another chance again. Next time I'm there, I'll try to get the Right items.

    1. Hahaha! I know what you mean!! Sometimes, I buy things that end up not working really well, like their "Magiclean" mop for example.. I used it twice and then the entire handle came off wtf *facepalm*

It's really a lot of "product research" and being a bit more auntie to go around comparing price hehehe. I wouldn't buy their stationery items, photo frames (Ikea sells theirs at only 80 cents!) or batteries because most of them are quite expensive at $2, but I would totally spend my $2 on glue guns, LED flashlights and stuff like that. :P

Good luck on your next trip!!
