Friday Flips #1: Watch Out For The Crocodile!Friday, August 14, 2015
I have been following Adeline's Friday Flips for quite a while and I've always wanted to have a book review section in the blog, since we buy Dylan and Alexis so many books!
Recently, we have also started borrowing books on our weekly library trips because I gathered that Dylan is now older, he is able to take care of his books better. So some 6 months after Adeline's Friday Flips started, I am jumping on the bandwagon with the first Friday Flips for this week.
This book is about Tora, who went camping with her "very boring" father who goes to work, drinks coffee and talks on his phone (aren't we all guilty!).
She was very excited about the trip, but she kept missing the animals that her daddy pointed out. In the end, she used her imagination to be creative and brave.
This book is highly engaging for children because it keeps them questioning - what would the next animal Tora would see? Ooooh there are some rocks there, but what did Tora see?
I think that it also serves as a reminder for parents that children and us see things really differently and we shouldn't confine them to think within a box. Sometimes, tree branches can be giraffes while a bunch of rocks can be a herd of sunbathing hippos, you'll never know!
Dylan loved this book because he loves how the story evolves as we moved along the pages. The fonts are a little small, but it is okay for Dylan. The story is engaging, yet not too lengthy. Dylan could sit through the entire book and still hungry for more.
I will certainly recommend this book to any mommies with kiddos between 3 to 5 years old.
