[GIVEAWAY!] Sunday Lunch Buffet: LIME at PARKROYAL on Pickering

PARKROYAL on Pickering is the newest hotel in Singapore under the PARKROYAL Hotel groups. Having got married in one of the PARKROYAL hotels in Singapore, both Nian and I were thrilled to be invited to Lime at PARKROYAL on Pickering for a sumptuous Sunday lunch!

The place itself is really not difficult to find - located at just walking distances from Chinatown MRT Station and Clarke Quay MRT Station, it is very convenient for families and couples who are taking the public transport.

If you guys drive, it is even better - just exit Havelock Road on CTE and you will see the beautiful building facing Hong Lim Park in less than a jiffy. The lift from the carpark also leads directly to LIME, where you will see the majestic entrance where all the desserts are displayed.

LIME is brightly lit by the natural sunlight streaming in from the rows and rows of full-glass panes and with the unique white and green colour theme, it makes the entire restaurant bright and lively.

Well.. I may a little biased there since green is my favourite colour, hehe.

If you choose to sit along the full-length windows, you can not only enjoy a comfortable, squashy sofa seat, you can also bask in the beautiful sight of the tree-lined walkway. (Check out the sofa seat at the upper right corner!)

Of course, apart from the ambiance, FOOD is also very important isn't it? Let me show you some of our favourites and must-tries!

Headed by Executive Chef, Vijayakant Shanmugam and along his team of talented chefs, you can expect quite a wide variety of international cuisines.

One of our favourite dishes in LIME is the Pan-Seard Foie Gras. The foie gras is quickly seared until its surface forms a crispy tan and when served together with the slightly sour passionfruit and the crunchy apple slices, oooooh. The combination brought out the best of a foie gras. Those rich, buttery taste that melts almost immediately in our mouths.

It was SO HARD to not make a second trip back for another serving; I almost had to tie myself to the chair so that I don't wander by the live station just to catch the whiff of the sizzling foie gras in the pan.

The Norwegian Benedict is another of our favourite - Nicely poached single egg drenched with hollandaise sauce, served with a thick slice of salmon. I personally appreciated the bed of rosti the Egg Benedict was served on - it was so crispy and delicious!

Don't you want to have a bite too? :B~

The third dish you can get from the live station is the Mushroom Risotto. Made fresh on the spot, the rice is coated with generous cheese and served with a slice of Jamon Iberico ham at the side.

I love how crunchy and fresh the mushrooms are, but the rice is a tad hard for me. Personally, I'm not a fan of risotto because it can get quite 'gelat' after a while.

Moving on from the live stations, Lime also boasts a wide variety of Asian and Mediterranian dishes. Nian and I enjoyed this Herb-Crusted Cod Fillet where the boneless fillet is pan-fried to a succulent crisp and served in cutesy ready-to-eat size. You can spot it in Nian's plate in the picture below!

This is our first round of food and it is also the only round that I managed to take a picture of because after that, I kinda evolved into this ravenous, hungry Godzilla that ate everything on sight. *coughs*

We particularly liked the King Prawn Meuniere, where juicy king prawns are cooked with butter and herbs, and the Vine Tomatoes with Crab Rillette. The slightly saltish crab rillette goes really well with the sweet baby tomatoes; you'll probably not get enough with only two on your plate.

The lamb shank and beef cheeks were rather pale in comparison though, I thought the latter was a little too tough for my liking. I didn't try the lamb shank because I don't like mutton, but as according to Nian, it was pretty average.

If you're a fan of fresh seafood, then the ice station is something that you shouldn't miss. With a spread of fresh oysters to lobsters, crayfish, mussels and vongoles, I spent a major part of my time hanging around this section myself. :P

Here are some of the other dishes that we've tried. Lobster Bisques are one of my favourite soups but this one tends to have a little fishy aftertaste. As compared to the Cream of Mushroom that is served alongside with it, I would go for the Cream of Mushroom this time.

Do remember to check out the bread station to get yourself some freshly baked bread to go with your soup if you're there!

Cheese fanatics will also be glad to find a wide selection of cheese available in LIME. From the less heavy Edam to an earthy Livarot to the slightly-less-fatty Tomme de Savoie... there are altogether twelve different European cheese for one to taste.

Of course, no meal is complete without a sweet ending. Nian and I specially set aside a portion of our meal just to try out the dessert. If you're someone who doesn't like overly-sweet stuff, I'd say go for the macarons and the green tea chocolate fondue.

As for Nian and I, we really love their Bread and Butter Pudding. They serve them plain or with chocolate. We tried the former and we thought it was really good!

The Black Forest Cake and the Blueberry Cheesecake is also quite noteworthy and I'd recommend you to try them if you're a dessert-lover like us.

All in all, the three of us spent a splendidly wonderful Sunday afternoon at LIME. The place was cozy, quiet and comfortable and we also received some really good service.

You see, both Nian and I were just settling for iced water while we are eating because we completely forgot that the buffet is inclusive of fresh juices, soft drinks, coffee and tea. We were rather impressed that one of the servers actually came forward to ask us if he can bring us any other beverages. Thank you for the initiative!

There was also another server who brought Pepperoni Pizza around the tables, but we didn't try because I am not a fan of Pepperoni. I wished she came back with more variety because we didn't see her anymore after that.

Ending this post with Dylan's cheeky excited face when he saw the chocolate fondue. Heeheehee. Thanks to PARKROYAL on Pickering, I'll be giving out one pair of complimentary buffet vouchers to one lucky reader below, so do scroll down and take part! :)
