Breakfast date at the stables

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

A fortnight ago, while I was still on maternity leave, the husband and I went for a quiet breakfast date after we dropped our bubs off at the infant care.

Rode along this little quiet lane near the stables and I was astonished to find that Singapore can have such a beautiful morning too. Then... I realized that every single morning is beautiful - just that most of the time we are caught in the hustle and bustle of rushing to work, we kinda miss these beautiful moments.

Hello horsey!

We dined indoors because those on the patio were fully reserved

Can you see the horses? Nian and I were joking about how the white horse on the left will turn into a prince in the middle of the night lol

Jac's Blackstone Benedict with Bacon & Tomatoes, Poached Eggs & Hollandaise on rustic Sourdough ($15)
Nian's Poached Eggs with Tomatoes, Cream Corn Polenta, Portobello and Sourdough ($15)

Personally, the both of us really love the food there. I think the poached eggs were perfect, the tomatoes were juicy, sweet and not even one bit sour. The bacon under my Benedict was also thick and juicy, there's really nothing I dislike in my entire plate.

Similarly for Nian, the both of us wiped the plates of food out in probably less than half an hour.

Besides, I think $15 for a serving like that is quite worth the money too. Comparing to Wild Honey who charges like $30 for a serving of breakfast, I'll definitely be coming back to this rustic dining area very soon to try out their brunch menu.

I'd love to try their Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with Crabmeat, Spinach, Chili Oil, Garlic and Parsley - wa lao eh. EVERYTHING in this lengthy sentence are all my favourite food!

(Yes, I actually like parsely hehe. I also like ginger, garlic and onions. Some of my girlfriends cannot understand why my tastebuds like that. LOL)

I wanna try their Death by Chocolate and Creme Brulee desserts also. Just crossing my fingers they are as affordable as their breakfast menu.

I wanna visit Marmalade by the Stables the next time too. I heard their menu is pretty delicious... like the Spaghetti Carbonara with poached egg which I think Nian will love and their crabmeat linguine. Tried this 2 years back at their ION outlet and I thought it was really delish. Omg mamamiaaa~
