[Review] Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion

Friday, November 02, 2012

Thanks to Hada Labo and EK Media, I got to try out Hada Labo's Arbutin Whitening Lotion for the past month. :)

I've always been a fan of Hada Labo because of its Perfect X Simple philosophy. In the past, I like skin care products that smell very nice; whether they are effective or not, I didn't really care. As long as they smell nice and don't give me break outs, I will use it.

However, as I grow older, I look for different things in my skincare products. First of all, I will look for products that target-lock moisture. When your skin is sufficiently moisturized, it will be plump and wrinkles-free.

The next I look out for is the anti-ageing property in a skincare product. Being 27 years old now is no joke, I would definitely need to put in more effort in maintaining good skin because I don't want it to leave me when I'm only 35!

Thirdly, I will look for products that will lighten my freckles and pigmentation. I think I've mentioned this before, I've a couple of pigmentation on my cheeks because I used to play netball in the sun very often.... without proper sunblock (yes, gasp! I was young and lazy lah.). So these pigmentation sprouted like polka dots on my face, making my skin dull and looking much older than it should be.

With these three properties in mind, I then consider the efficacy, complexity and finally the price.

You see lah, as you grow older, you think about more things. Not just, "Wow this smells nice! BUY."

Hada Labo's Arbutin Whitening Lotion can be considered as a one-stop skincare product for me on days when I'm too tired for a facial mask because it is able to target all three of my considerations in just one bottle.

I usually use the usual Hada Labo Moisturizing Lotion for my nightly skincare regime, alternating with the anti-ageing Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion every 2 days. After receiving this Arbutin Whitening Lotion, it replaces the need for me to alternate between them because this bottle alone does most of the job.

Texture wise, it is similar to the Moisturizing Lotion and slightly less viscous as compared to the Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion.

Great for day and night
Personally, I think this Arbutin Whitening Lotion absorbs much better into my skin as compared to the rest of the ranges, I'm surprised myself. I could actually feel that my skin became bouncier just after 1 application. In fact, I like it that it is less sticky as compared to Hada Labo's usual moisturizing lotion.

Apart from using it as a toner at night, I also tried this lotion in the day, just before my make up. It resulted in a longer lasting make-up, possibly because my skin underneathe is much moisturized and the two-way cake can hold onto my skin better.

I've also observed brighter skin on the side where I applied the Whitening lotion. No brightening was done to this shot, except for smoothening out my hedious eye bags lol. My freckles are still visible in real life, although you probably can't see it clearly in pictures so I guess the whitening effect will still need more time to take effect.
